Data quality is paramount for nearly every modern organisation. Besides building quality checks into data pipelines directly, data quality is achieved through systematic data management and by assuring compliance with data governance policies. Growing data volumes and more stringent consumer’s rights protection regulations warrant a formal data governance program to ensure that data is managed properly, according to policies and best practices. This is not implemented through a single technology, but it requires management of a wide range of disciplines to achieve this goal, e.g., making architectural decisions, logging metadata, and making data security decisions.
